How we check
We do not invent a fact, a name, a price, or a date. If a page does not have a source, it does not get stated as current.
Each new data record stores the source name, the source URL, checked_at with a Chicago offset, stale_after, and towns so a later site can reuse one town’s rows. The visible line looks like: Source, checked time in CT, stale after.
The page rollup is the oldest dated line on the page, not the newest. A stale live flag is unknown, not the last color. Other stale items say “May be out of date. Check the source.” When two official sources disagree, we keep both and say which notice is later.
data/flags.json and data/storm.json are written by their own routines. This standard does not replace those files.
Accidents, if we publish them later, come from an official feed only: road, direction, lanes, time, and source. No names, plates, or photos of people or vehicles.
We do not scrape Google, Yelp, or Tripadvisor reviews, and we do not publish a blended score or a wait time mined from reviews.
